Three years after the life of the Xbox One, storage has become a valuable asset. The base model's 500GB drive does not seem to be quite that spacious if the "Ready to Install" list is full of AAA games that consume more than 50GB, and almost double that if you have 4K-compatible games Download Xbox One X.
If you did not invest in an external drive to increase the storage capacity of your console, you probably feel that you need to delete one of your games to make room for another. If not, the first time can be a shattering and confusing experience. To help you, we've put together this handy guide on how to delete and reinstall your content. It will not make it easier for you to remove which games from your drive, but it will tell you which buttons to press.
On the Xbox One Home screen, press the Xbox button on the Dashboard, then select the "My Games and Apps" tile.
Select the tile of the game you want to remove from your hard drive and press the Menu button on your controller. (This is the startup button for most players.)
Select Manage Game from the pop-up menu that appears.
The next screen is divided into two parts. On the left side, you'll see all the contents associated with the game, listed under "Installed" or "Ready to install." On the left side of the screen you can also manage all the saved data that is present for the game selected game
On the right side you can see some details about the game, including the file size and a link to the game page in the Xbox Store. You can move the data if you have another storage device connected, copy it or completely uninstall it. Select "Uninstall All" and the game will be removed from your hard drive.
Reinstalling Deleted Games
If you want to reinstall a deleted game, return to the My Games and Apps screen. On the left side, you should see "Ready to install (X)", where "X" shows the number of games and apps you own that are not currently installed on your hard drive. When you select a game or application, it will start automatically if you have enough space on your console.
On the left side of the screen, you will now see a "Games with Gold" tab that displays all the games you have received through Xbox Live Gold and that have not yet been installed.
You can also reinstall games from the Manage Game screen. Select "Ready to Install" on the left side. Then install each content individually or install all the content for the specified game at once using the "Install All" option. Note that after deleting, no backup data will be reinstalled. Once removed, this data is lost forever, unless you have connected to the Internet before deleting the data. In this case, it will be reinstalled from the cloud when you reinstall or re-download the game.
Update: We added information to the "Games with Gold" tab.
