How to Easily Convert HEIC Images to JPG on a Mac

Apple has begun to use the HEIC image format with HEI 11. It is preferable to the established JPG files because of the smaller file size and has also found its way to the Mac. HEIC can cause problems for some apps. To easily convert HEIC files to JPG files.

Setting Up the Quick Action

Start Automator on your Mac with your application folder or you can use Spotlight to search for it ̵

At the top of the left side of the screen, type" copy finder "in the search box and drag" Copy Finder Items "to the right side of the screen. Here you can then select the folder where you want to save the converted images.

On the left side of the screen, type "change type" in the search field and drag "Change Image Type" on the right side of the screen, and there will also be a drop-down list this in "JPEG."

Click File> Save on the menu bar and enter a name for your quick action.

Finally, click "Save" to complete the process.

Using the Quick Action to Convert HEIC Images to JPG

If you want to use your new quick action, right-click a HEIC file (or even an image file) and select the previously created quick action out. You will find the newly converted JPG in the folder you previously set.

You can also select a group of images and convert them all in the same way.
