How to get TSA PreCheck, Global Entry and Clear for free

What could be better than leaving out the long safety line at the airport? Not to pay for the privilege of skipping the long safety line at the airport, that's what.

TSA PreCheck, Global Entry and Clear are programs that put airport security systems through their paces. However, before you raise money for these program fees ̵

1; and after you have clarified the security and privacy concerns of signing up for such a program – you should look at the many credit cards that cover the costs. Similarly, you can redeem loyalty points or frequent flyer miles to receive a free TSA PreCheck, Global Entry, or Clear membership.

What do these programs do?

TSA PreCheck and Global Entry are operated by the US Government, while a private Clear Company.

  • TSA PreCheck is being conducted by the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and is speeding up the airport security verification process. This will give you access to a faster PreCheck line (if available) and will not need to take off your shoes, belt, jacket or laptop during the security check.
  • Global Entry operated by the US Department of Customs and Border Protection (CBP), incorporates all the benefits of TSA PreCheck and provides a customs and entry express transit line for international travelers returning to the US.
  • Clear is privately operated and lets you bypass the main security line or the TSA PreCheck line at the airport. After you have checked in to a kiosk, you will be directed to the front of the security line where you do not need to show your ID. Afterwards you will be subjected to a security check as usual – unless you also have PreCheck. Clear also offers a free version of its service called Clear Sports, which enables accelerated entry into 19 stadiums across the country.

How much do these programs normally cost? Costs?

TSA PreCheck costs $ 85 for five years. Global Entry costs $ 100 for five years. Clear is much more expensive at $ 179 a year. The ideal combination is "Global Entry" and "Clear". So you can go through the security line and then go through the review without having to reorganize the entire wardrobe. But that's expensive, read on.

How To Get TSA PreCheck or Global Entry For Free.

In most cases, you can choose between a $ 100 credit to cover the costs of Global Entry or a $ 85 credit to cover the cost of TSA PreCheck if your credit card passes through a TSA PreCheck or a Global Entry Advantage. I do not know why you would choose the latter if both were free. Remember, Global Entry includes all the benefits of TSA PreCheck and provides a faster route through US Customs and immigration.

The following credit cards offer a credit of $ 85 for TSA PreCheck or Global Entry. This amount covers the cost of TSA PreCheck, but leaves you with a balance of $ 15 for a five-year Global Entry membership.

In addition to credit cards, there are a handful of loyalty programs for travelers with whom you can redeem points or miles for a free membership with TSA PreCheck.

How to Get Clear for Free

There are fewer ways to get a free or reduced Clear membership, but they exist. Delta and United frequent flyers and Hertz members can receive an offer for Clear.

For Delta Flyers, Clear is free for Diamond Medallion members, $ 109 per year for Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion members, and $ 119 per year for Sky General members.

At United, Clear is free for Premier 1K members, for United credit card members in the United States, and for Premier members with platinum, gold, and silver $ 109 per year. For MileagePlus members, it's $ 119 per year.

Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members receive a $ 129 a year discount, with one month or more added to their 12-month membership. Hertz Platinum members receive six additional months for free, Hertz President's Circle members four more months free, Hertz Five Star members two more months free, and Hertz Gold members receive an additional free month.
