Steam shares its gameplay activities by default. If you play Hello Kitty: Island Adventure or Bad Rats you may want to keep your gameplay a secret. So hide your Steam activity from your friends.
Hide games being played in your Steam profile
Your Steam profile page usually lists all the games you have played and how many hours you've spent in total. You focus on what you do have played in the last two weeks.
Steam profiles were public by default, but Valve made them private by default. You may be working with a third-party service that reads information from your Steam profile, such as IsThereAnyDeal, which searches your wish list for games and lets you know if they are on sale in other Game Stores.
] To access your profile in Steam, hover your mouse over your username in the top bar and click on Profile.
Click the Edit Profile button on the right side of the page where you want to edit your profile.
Click "My Privacy Settings" on the right side of your page to display the privacy settings for the Steam profile.
Adjust the privacy settings here to control what people can see. To hide the gameplay, you have two options.
To hide the gameplay information, set "Game Details" to "Private." Not even your friends can see which games you play, which ones you own, or which games you put on the wish list. Depending on the options you select on this page, you will still be able to see your friends list, inventory, comments, and other information.
You can also hide everything by setting My Profile to Private. If you do, nobody can see your entire profile page. You can also choose Just Friends, and only your Steam friends can see your profile.
Hide gameplay activity from Steam Chat
If you're just embarrassed about which game you're playing. You may not care if it's listed on your profile page, but you do not want all of your friends to be notified that you've started playing the game, or you'd like to see it on the friends list. You can go offline or become invisible in Steam chat.
Click on "Friends and Chat" in Steam, click on your username and choose "Offline". or "Invisible." Your friends can not see what you're playing, even though this information will still be displayed on your profile page.
Keep in mind that setting your "Game Details" to "Private" prevents your friends from seeing the games you play, even when you're alone in Steam chat.
Hide or remove games in your Steam library
If you want to hide a game in your Steam library on your PC, you may want to be able to Set "hidden" or remove from your Steam library.
People who have access to game details in your profile will still be able to see your achievements and seasons in this game. Anyone who has access to your PC, however, can not see the game in your regular Steam library.
Steam now no longer offers adult-only games and other games -Safe-for-Work Material (NSFW): Possibility to use Hide games played by you is becoming increasingly important. But it's useful, even if you have played other games, such as Bad Rats which you do not want anyone to know.
