How To Kill Your Facebook Addiction On Your iPhone



I was a big fan of Facebook. There, all my friends shared interesting links and posted photos. Unfortunately, it is now a wasteland full of older relatives and the weird guy I met in 2011. Everyone moved to Instagram.

The only problem was that my default behavior of procrastination did not change. When I was waiting for a train or had three minutes to kill, I would ̵

Uninstall the App

The first step (and this is already a long way) is to delete the official Facebook app from your phone. If you want to access Facebook, you can use the mobile website. This makes it a little harder for you to open Facebook and automatically scroll.

For many people this is all that is needed. This little step is enough to use Facebook only if he wants to. The site is also slightly slower than the app, making the experience even less rewarding. If this is not enough for me, please read on.

Setting Screen Timeout

In iOS 12, Apple added Screen Time: A feature that lets you track how much time you spend on different apps. You can also use it to set how much time you can spend on social media as a whole or on Facebook.

If you just want to spend less time on Facebook – and it works with both the app and the website – then you can set a timeout for the ad. Screen Time informs you when you approach your limit. Once you reach the limit, you will not be able to open the app or visit the site. However, you can work around this by tapping Ignore limit. So it can not break your addiction, but you'll at least be aware of how much time you spend with it.

Kill the Newsfeed

The last step when To really stop yourself from scrolling through your news feed is to completely remove it. The free feed feed app uses iOS content blocking features to completely hide the newsfeed from the Facebook website. Download Feedless from the App Store to set it up. Go to Settings> Safari> Content Blocker and turn on Feedless.

It's hard to break an addiction, and a Facebook search application is no exception. With a combination of website, screen time and feedless, I have made it a habit. You can do that too.
