How to Launch Calls and FaceTimes from iOS 12 News App on Your iPhone «iOS & iPhone :: Gadget Hacks

Front and center for iOS 12 this year is the FaceTime group, which allows users to chat with up to 32 people at the same time. While this ambitious feature is unfortunately delayed, you should not just throw away FaceTime – you can always call your iPhone with a contact directly from the News app and start a call.

Start a phone call or FaceTime audio or video call The news app is surprisingly easy in iOS 1

2. First, open a message thread with the friend you want to call. Next, tap your contact icon at the top of the screen to see your calling options. Tap FaceTime to immediately jump into a FaceTime video call. To start an audio call, tap Audio, and Messages let you choose between a "voice call" from your phone number or a "FaceTime Audio" call.

This year, placing an audio or FaceTime call on messages is not quite the same as in previous versions of iOS. However, this is not the only change that appears in the News app. In addition to this new FaceTime method you will find funny camera effects, a new use for the camera button, added Animoji for iPhone X, among many other new features.
