Alexa is awesome, but it's rather loud. This is not very helpful if you have just brought the baby to sleep, or you are trying to order a pizza on the down-low. The Amazon developers have finally listened to user requests and will soon release a new feature for our Smart Hub Whisper mode.
How to Make Alexa Calm
Now this feature is only useful if you can trigger it automatically whenever you need it. Luckily you can. Just whisper your command to Alex and she whispers back. This feature is available when your echo speaker (or other Alexa devices) are online or offline.
How It Works
Human speech and human whispering are created differently. When people talk, we use their vocal cords to create sound vibrations.
When we whisper, we mostly use breeze to make words. That's why Amazon development team Alexa needed to teach a new way of listening. Would you like to know more about the process? They published a paper about their research and published it online as PDF here
When can I use it?
The Whispering Feature will be released in October in the United States. There is still no word about publications in other countries.
