When you rebuild your AirPods, they are assigned a default name based on the name of the device to which you originally paired them. This is usually good. However, if you want to be more creative, you can change the name of your AirPods into something new.
Just like iPhones, iPads and Macs, Apple lets the AirPods give their name as they like. This means that you can make a funny choice, but if you live in a household with multiple AirPod pairs, giving a big name can be a way to tell which ones are yours and which are not.
First, make sure your AirPods are connected to your iPhone or iPad and open the Settings app before you tap on "Bluetooth".
Tap the "I" icon next to the entry for your AirPods. If you have many Bluetooth devices, you may need to scroll down to find the one you want.
. Then tap "Name" "to go to the next screen.
You can now enter the new name you want to assign to your AirPods. Tap the cross next to the existing name to delete it and enter the new name you want to assign to your AirPods. When finished, tap the back arrow to save the changes.
That's all it takes. If you now connect your AirPods to a device, that name will be used. Also, the name is not device-specific, so you do not have to change the name again when you connect to another device, such as a Mac.
