Snapshots are deleted immediately after viewing, as the stories disappear after 24 hours. That's exactly how Snapchat works and it's one of the reasons why so many people love it. However, some of the snaps and stories created are so good that you do not want them to disappear.
Unfortunately, Snapchat can not save it on your device and you will even notify the sender if you do so a screenshot of their creation. However, you can still save snaps and stories that you want to keep forever on your Android device, although it's not so easy to tap a download button. We'll show you how to do that and how to save your own snaps and stories.
Saving Snapchat Videos
It's best to save a Snapchat video by using a paperless recorder app on your phone. It's not an ideal solution, but the job is done. We recommend using the AZ Screen Recorder (download below), but there are many other similar apps to choose from.
Launch the app as soon as it's installed, and a floating icon will appear on your screen. Next, open Snapchat, tap the floating AZ Screen Recorder icon, select the camera icon to start recording, and then quickly open the Snapchat video you want to capture. To stop recording, pull down the notification screen and tap the Stop button – the video will be saved to your phone.
Step by Step Guide for Saving Snapchat Videos:
- Download the AZ Screen Recorder from the Play Store.
- Launch the app as soon as it is installed. A floating icon appears on the screen.
- Open Snapchat on your device.

If this is too complicated for you, you can try it. Play the Snapchat video on your phone and record it on another device – a phone, tablet, point-and-shoot camera …. It's not the best solution, but it's quick and easy.

If you want to save your own snaps, the process is a lot easier. To do this, it is best to tap the "Save" button in the lower left corner of the screen before sending a snap. To save a Snapchat story after it's gone online, tap the Profile button in the upper-left corner and then tap the Download button next to the story you want to keep forever. To view your saved creations, simply swipe up on the camera screen and you're ready to go.
