Having a few smart speakers and displays from Google Home and Nest in your house can be great for home automation. With “Family Bell”, the Google Assistant can play scheduled announcements at set times. We’ll show you how to set it up.
The Family Bell feature is ideal for keeping your household on schedule. You can use it to remind your kids of bedtime at 9 p.m. every night. Or you work from home and always forget to have lunch. So create an announcement for 1
A prerequisite for the “family bell” function is a Nest / Google Home speaker or a smart display. The announcements can only be made via these devices and not via your smartphone or tablet.
Open the “Google Home” app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device and tap the “Profile” icon in the upper right corner.
Select “Wizard Settings” from the menu.
You will now see a long list of things that you can do with the Google Assistant. Scroll down and select “Family Bell”.
Then tap the “Add Bell” button.
First enter a “bell announcement”. This is the message that the Google Assistant is reciting.
Now let’s choose the time and days of the week for the announcement.
You can choose where the announcement should be played. Tap on Playing [Device Name], ”And choose from your connected devices.
Finally, make sure it’s “Enabled” and then tap the “Create New Bell” button.
You are returned to the Family Bells Overview menu, where you can turn your announcements on or off.
That’s all there is to it! At the appointed time, you will hear a few chimes and then the Google Assistant will recite the announcement. You will receive a notification on your mobile device when the announcement has been made.
