The compact Echo Dot from Amazon is now available in the third generation with a newly announced version with integrated LED clock. This smaller echo device is even more recommended and is ideal as a satellite companion for a larger echo or an alternative for smaller living spaces. It can do everything that larger echo speakers can, but it's more affordable (and in some cases a free add-on). And as we'll show, the dot is easy to set up for new users. When you open your dot fresh from the box, do the following to set everything up and make sure Alexa works as intended.
: Download Alexa.
If this is your first echo device, you probably do not have the Alexa app. If necessary, download the Alexa app to your favorite mobile device to get started. You can find the Alexa app in both the Apple App Store and the Google App Store and many other places. If you are using Alexa for the first time, you may need to complete some login / account steps the first time you open the app.
If you already have the Alexa app, make sure that this is the case completely updated before you start setting up.
Step 2: Connect and prepare your Echo Dot.
Use the cable with your supplied cable to puncture and plug in. When switching on, the ring of your dot should glow blue. This is all you need to do now, but you may notice that the item in the Wi-Fi settings appears as a ready to connect device.
