Where is the person you are talking to? Are they the ones they say they are? To check this, you can click this person on a special link. They will see their IP address, and that will tell you their approximate location.

How IP Tracking Links Work

IP protocol showing a Nigerian location
Wait a minute: They said they were in the US, but that says Nigeria!

We recently played along with a fake job recruiter scam. We knew in the beginning that this was a scam, but we wanted to confirm the place of the scammer. They said they were in the US – but were they? We checked by tracking their IP address with a link.

There's nothing special about that: When someone accesses a resource online, the server sees its unique IP address. And IP addresses are tied to coarse geographic areas. However, common web services usually do not display that person's IP address, although you could probably see this for yourself when hosting your own web server. The method here uses an online service that "wraps" a real link for you by calling the IP address it accesses before quickly sending the person to the real destination of the link.

This has its limitations. Anyone can use a VPN to mask their actual location. But even if this is the case, there is a good chance that the VPN will show a different location than it claims. In the case of our fake recruitment agency, the scammer said he was in the US, but he accessed our link via a Nigerian-based IP address.

If you do not know where someone is and their location To find out if they are real, you need to convince the person to say where they are before sending the link. It should not be too tricky to integrate this into a conversation, because the nature of the Internet makes site search a routine part of an online discussion – does anyone else remember A / S / L?

Once you have done this, you must do so Prepare a digital file to send. An image, a Word document, or anything you can attach to a cloud storage link is enough. If you are dealing with a potential cheater, the cheater may ask you to send him something as part of a scam. If you are online, you might want to send a photo. If you're ready to send a file, you'll need to connect that normal link to an IP tracking service.

Unfortunately, this process creates a link that is obviously intended for tracking. You must use another service to hide it. You probably do not want the other person to find your trick.

How to create a disguised tracking connection [19659016] You can use a link to any website online but this process will guide you through creating a link that leads to one of your files or photos.

The first step is to upload your file to a cloud service like Dropbox or Google Drive. If you suspect that the person you interact with is untrustworthy and you do not want to divulge any personal information, it is recommended that you do not use a primary account that you have. You may want to create a second account if you do not already have an account.

When your file is uploaded, you can create a shared link through the website. In Google Drive, you can right-click on the file and select "Shareable Link." Hover your mouse over the file in Dropbox and select Share.

The Google Drive submenu shows the option

This is the link where your alleged cheater will land at the end of the process. But do not give this link. By itself it says nothing.

Go to the IP Logger website instead and paste your URL in the URL and Image Shortener field. Click the "Get IPlogger code" button.

The next screen displays a link for the IP logger Collect statistics "And" Link to view statistics ". Copy the "Show statistics" link to a safe place. This will allow you to view the IP address and location of the person.

The link to "Collect Statistics" is the link with IP tracking. Unfortunately, this link "iplogger.com" is a dead present to your recipient.

Hide What You Can Do Using a URL shortening service. Unfortunately, these shortening services do not like the IP logger URLs and generate errors. To work around this, click the iplogger.org drop-down menu to the right of "Choose a domain name" and select "2no.co" for your domain. The tracking link above will be updated. Copy the new link.

. Next you go to bit.ly – you can try another shortening of the service if you prefer, but we've tested it with Bitly. If you do not have an account yet, create an account.

Click the "Create" button in the top right corner of the Bitly website.

Add your tracking link "2no.co" in the field "Paste long URL" and click the button " Create".

You now have a bitly link that you can associate with your potential cheater. You can click the "Copy" button to get it quickly.

Viewing the Recipient's IP Address

Send this link to the person you speak to as if you had a standard connection. Then switch back to the IP logger, copy the link for the display statistics and paste it into your browser.

You can see a list of all the IP addresses that the link has accessed, the location they are located, and possibly which browsers they are using.

Remember, this will not tell you everything. If the person uses a VPN or similar technology, the actual location is not displayed. But there is another tool in your arsenal to find people who are not the ones they claim to be. If your tracking results show a different country than you expect, be careful and consider,
