When thearrived a few years ago, it brought the opportunity to put your device in dark mode, offering black instead of white windows. Whether you're a developer or need to use your computer in a shared room at night, Dark Mode can help. There may be a (big) caveat, but here's how it's done.
First, you need to access the settings of your PC. You can do this in two ways, by pressing the Windows key + I. If you forgot the shortcut, click the Windows icon in the system tray and then click the Settings gear icon.
Next, click the Personalization icon (fifth in the list) and then click Colors. At the bottom of the Colors menu, find "Choose your default app mode" with the Light (default) or Dark option.
The dark mode has a black background, dark gray scrollbars, and white text, and works with most standard Windows 10 apps.
Note that dark mode does not work with File Explorer, which still uses a white background. While Dark Mode will eventually appear in Explorer – it's available in the current preview build – Microsoft still needs to confirm when it will be included in the official release.
Microsoft did not answer CNET's request for a comment immediately. See.
