Windows 1

0 and MacOS have their own blue light filters and there are a number of third-party apps that you can use can also be used.

If you're looking for a blue light filter for your smartphone, there are great screen filtering options and apps that you can download from Google Play or iOS App Stores.

What is it? Problem with blue light?

The reason why blue light hurts is purely biological. Sleep is part of the circadian rhythm, the cycle of biological processes that is in part determined by the amount of light and darkness our body is exposed to. In the most natural environment where we are only exposed to sunlight, our retinas feel as the sun goes down and the surroundings darken. This causes our hypothalamus to tell the body to produce melatonin and other sleep hormones and lower our body temperature.

When we use artificial lighting to extend our day, our bodies become confused and the various sleep signals are disturbed. Even worse is the blue light that is emitted by fluorescent lamps and LED lights – as in our various device displays. As a result, we become more alert and produce even less melatonin.

That's why using a filter is so important.

Microsoft has added a blue-light limit feature to Windows 10 in the Creators Update, which was released in April 2017. This feature is referred to as "night light" and shifts the display of Windows 10 to displaying warmer colors that reduce the amount of blue light.
