For the longest time FaceTime allowed no more than two users to chat with each other. However, with the release of Group FaceTime in iOS 12.1, you can chat with up to 31 other people. That's how it's done.

Everyone you want to record in your group FaceTime chat needs to update their device to at least iOS 1
To start a Group FaceTime call, open the FaceTime app and tap the "+" button at the top right of the screen.
Enter the contacts you want to call and tap Video. You can also select "Audio" if you only want to make a FaceTime call.
Wait for the receivers to pick one after the other. You can chat with anyone who has responded without having to wait for the rest of the group.
During the FaceTime call, tap the "Effects" button to view various effects. If it is hidden, tap the bottom of the screen to pull the buttons up.
This allows you to use animoji, stickers, and filters for your camera.
To see more options, tap the ellipses button.
Allows you to mute the microphone or turn off the video and scroll to the rear-facing camera. You can also add more people to the call from this menu.
Anyone can leave the FaceTime call without affecting the entire call. And if you call several people and do not answer one or two, the call will not be abandoned.
Basically, FaceTime is grouped pretty much like FaceTime, just with more people!
