How To View And Manage Your Location History On Google Maps To Determine Where You Have Been And What You Do «Smartphones :: Gadget Hacks

Facing the many attractions in the world today, it can be difficult to keep track of all the places we've visited and the events in which we participated. Fortunately, with a great feature in Google Maps, you can view a detailed history of your phone's location history to help you remember where you've been at almost any time.

Checking Location History on Google Maps is easy and works pretty much on Android phones and iPhone. If you have the feature turned on, it works like a personal timeline, displaying every location on a custom map that only you can see. If you want to know more about this feature and want to relive some great memories, read on to find out how.

Step 1
: Enable Location History

Before you can view your location history, you must do so to make sure the feature is enabled on your device. If it was not previously enabled, you will not have any Location History data but it will accumulate in the future.

Open Google Maps and tap the Hamburger icon in the top left corner To open the page menu, tap either "Settings" (Android) or the setting gear icon (iOS). From there tap on "Personal content".

Step 3: Access your Timeline

Now you have made sure that the "Location Log" feature in Google Maps is fully enabled. Open the app, tap the Hamburger icon in the top left corner and choose "Your timeline". From there you will be directed to your location history for the current day. However, you can recall the previous days immediately by dragging directly to the information card in the lower half of the screen.

If you want to go back further Tap the calendar icon in the top right corner to bring up the month view. You'll be greeted with the current month, with gray and white dots highlighting the times when Google Maps documented your location history.

Days when only one location was recorded are grayed out, while days with more than one location are displayed in white. If no circles exist, no location history is logged. If you want to see the previous months, swipe right to reset the time.

Tapping one of the highlighted data gives you a detailed overview of the adventures of the day. You can either tap a landmark or swipe up from the bottom of the screen to see the exact time and duration of your stay. Both also show all the relevant photos that you have taken in this location.

Step 4: Edit Location History

In some cases, Google Maps may not correctly specify your location history . In this case, you do not have to worry – you can manually mark the right spot with a few keystrokes.

Swipe up from the card at the bottom of the screen to view your location log, tap the wrong location, and choose Edit or Edit Location. The app will now create a list of nearby places to choose from. So choose the right location once you find it to fix it. You can also scroll to the bottom of the list to add your own. There is also an option from the list to search for a location.

Step 5: Delete an unwanted history

If you want to delete an uneventful location log, you prefer First, select a tag from the calendar view in your timeline. From there, tap the three-way menu button and select "Delete Day" or "Delete Day" to clear the whole day. Use with caution as it can not be undone.
