Like most of the season, the Houston Roughnecks are the team to watch. Led by Quarterback P.J. Walker rallied Houston last week to beat the Tampa Bay Vipers in a close 34:27 competition. This week Walker and the 3-0 Roughnecks travel to Dallas to take on the 2-1 Renegades Sunday at 4:00 p.m. ET on FS1.
Like last week, there will be two games on Saturday (Los Angeles vs. New York at 2:00 p.m. ET on ABC, followed by Seattle vs. St. Louis at 5:00 p.m. ET on Fox) and 7:00 p.m. ET game on Sunday on ESPN 2 (DC vs. Tampa Bay).
Only four of the eight teams will be able to reach the playoffs, and the half-time mark is fast approaching its time to shake off the contenders. So you can watch all XFL action this weekend on ABC, Fox, ESPN 2 and FS1.
What the hell XF is the XFL?
The XFL is a revived football league owned and funded by WWE President Vince McMahon. (The WWE boss even sold $ 100 million in wrestling giant shares to fund the football league.) The original XFL was founded in 1999 and played its only season in 2001.
This new incarnation, led by Oliver Luck (Yes, Andrew's father) as commissioner, shows less wrestling theater and is more aimed at traditional football fans instead. Improvements have been made to make the games faster and more lively, e.g. For example, removing kickers for extra points, allowing two forward passes and shorter halftimes. Other changes, such as adjustments for kickoffs, have been made to improve player security.
Eight teams take part in the XFL this year, with the regular season lasting 10 weeks. The regular season is followed by a weekend with playoffs for the four best teams. A championship game will be broadcast on ESPN on Sunday, April 26th.
