With the Galaxy Note 9's 6.4-inch AMOLED display, a split screen is much more useful as each half of the screen is relatively large. The problem is that there are some notable omissions in the list of apps that support the feature. However, Samsung offers a solution for this.
One of the biggest gaps in screen split mode is Netflix. Although Note 9's Android Oreo 8.1 OS allows it to access the Netflix picture-in-picture mode, this floating window is not always what we want. For times when we do not need the full screen for other work, we can enjoy our favorite series and movies in split-screen mode while doing other things.
Samsung has developed an app that lets you bypass this limitation. With this fix, Netflix, like any other app, can be forced to use split screen mode, even if native support is not included. If these apps are forced to run in split screen mode, they may be corrupted, but many will still work so you can enjoy split-screen mode with one of your favorite applications.
: Install Good Lock 2018
Like most Samsung phones, the Galaxy Note 9 comes with a second app store called Galaxy Apps, which includes Samsung-specific apps and mods. Here you can find the mod that enables split-screen for each app.
Find Galaxy Apps in your app drawer and select the icon to open them. Search for "Good Lock 2018" in the app and install it from the Play Store as in the case of a game.
Once you get Good Lock 2018 installed, open the app. You will be faced with six options, all of which are tweaks that you can use to customize your device. For this special function you need "MultiStar". Select it from the list and select "Install" to get the optimization.
Once installed, go back to the Good Lock 2018 app. MultiStar should have a green check mark next to its name to indicate that you have successfully installed the extension. If so, select it from the list to open its options.
Under the grouping Multi window + there is the option "Enable multi-window for all apps". Select this option to enable switching. You will be prompted to restart Galaxy Note 9 for this feature to work. Select "Restart" to restart your device.
It's worth noting that this functionality is only available for Android 8.1. While you can install Good Lock and the MultiStar extension on Android 8.0 smartphones like the Galaxy S9 and Note 8, the above option will not be displayed unless you are using 8.1. Currently the only Samsung phone is 8.1 with a grade of 9.
To make sure it works, test the function by trying to share the Netflix screen. You should get a message that the app may not work in this mode, but you should be able to do it.
You should know that when activating apps in split screen mode that were not designed to work, the app may not work properly. For example, it could be grossly flawed. Sometimes it is even forced to close, so understand that this is not a perfect solution.
Now you can enjoy any app in split-screen mode, even if the developer did not support it. Especially for those of us who enjoy Netflix shows and movies, you now have a better option for multitasking, where you can use half of your screen for Netflix instead of a pop-up window.
