I can not say we did not see that – Apple released beta version 7 for iOS 12 on Monday, August 20, the same day the developers released the ninth beta release. While the two betas may have different names, Public Beta 7 and Dev Beta 9 are virtually identical, so public testers should not feel like they're missed.
Public Beta 7 is a particularly small update to the sixth beta released last week. Users will not find many new features here, mostly smaller bug fixes and security patches. Please note that Google Maps may not display traffic data and downtime may not work properly if set up prior to the beta 7 update. See the public beta 7 and developer beta 9 for a complete list of resolved and existing issues. 1
While the public Beta 7 does not show the instability of the short-lived developer Beta 7, that does not mean beta will be perfect either. While the public beta 7 fixes some problems, there is still much to do for testers.
That's the kind of betas for you. However, you may want to know exactly what you would get involved with by downloading iOS 12 early. After reading our guide, you might just want to wait for the official build to be released next month.
