In addition to my associate Jason Cipriani's dozen iOS 12 shortcuts, I have a trio of YouTube-related additions to your Shortcuts library. You can download YouTube videos to your iPhone ($ 1,199 on Amazon) – No computer or iTunes required. With another you can hear YouTube in the background. The last one lets you look up YouTube videos of the current track in Apple Music.
To add these shortcuts, make sure you view them in Safari on your iPhone or iPad ($ 340 on Amazon) . Just tap the link and then tap the Get Shortcut button to add it to the Library tab in the shortcuts app.
This link allows you to download YouTube videos without involving iTunes. I used Charlie Sorrel's version of Cult of Mac based on this reddit shortcut. You can tap the Share button when viewing a YouTube video in the YouTube app or in Safari. In the sharing menu, select Shortcuts, and then tap the Download YouTube shortcut link. Wait a few seconds for the video to start running and find the downloaded video in the shortcuts folder of Files.
You can change the location of your downloaded videos by opening the Shortcuts app and tapping the triple button to download the YouTube shortcut in your library. Scroll to the last action named Save File and go to Ask Where to Save. Now, when you use the shortcut, you're asked where you want to save the video: another folder on iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive, or on my iPhone.
Add Download YouTube to your Shortcuts App.
If you are not a paid subscriber to YouTube Premium, you will not be able to hear the app in the background. However, with this link, you can listen to YouTube in the background while using Safari. After adding the link, start a YouTube video in Safari and at the bottom of Safari, tap the Share button (as opposed to the YouTube Share button just below the video). Then tap Shortcuts in the sharing menu, and then tap Background YouTube. You return to the video in Safari, where it is stopped. Tap Play to open a new page for the video. Lock your phone, and then use the media player on the lock screen to start playing video. You can listen to the audio on your locked phone, or unlock the phone and continue listening in the background with Safari and use the Control Center to play and pause the video.

Search for a track on YouTube
If you enjoy a particularly enjoyable track on Apple Music and wonder what YouTube videos are for your viewing pleasure, you should whip that shortcut. Unlike the other two links above, you do not access them through a sharing menu, but directly from the shortcuts app. For a song in Apple Music, open the Shortcuts app and tap the Track track for YouTube shortcut. This will open the YouTube app for a search results page that contains the name of the artist and the title as search terms.
Also in contrast to the other two shortcuts apps mentioned above, the search path on YouTube is listed in the gallery of the Shortcuts app.
