WithApple adds some new features to the Photos app that make the app more like Google Photos with a new, curated tab, sharing suggestions, and upgrades.
Please note that iOS 12 is currently in beta and that some of the features below may change prior to final release this fall.
A new For You tab is probably the most important change for the Photos app with iOS 12. The tab at the bottom of the app has curated reminders from photos and videos, and sharing suggestions.
The most exciting feature of the For-For tab is its proposal sharing feature.
If you're using the iCloud Photo Library, starting with iOS 12, start making suggestions about which photos to share with specific contacts. It takes a little while until your device detects who is in each picture. However, you only need to contact a contact on a photo once, and iOS 12 remembers your settings.
If you share photos with people who also use iOS 12, they'll be prompted to share photos they have of you from the same location or event.
A more robust search tool allows you to searchtaken at a particular location, event, or person. But instead of searching for a single object, you can now use multiple search terms to find a specific photo.
