iPhone XR vs Samsung Galaxy S9 + – Compare the second largest screens in the Bund «iOS & iPhone :: Gadget Hacks

The iPhone X R is the best bang for your Buck option among the 2018 iPhones. Sharing the X R and XR Max in the middle with the screen size makes small compromises to keep the price low. With the introduction of the Galaxy Note 9, Samsung also has its own powerful centerpiece, the Galaxy S9 +.

Without the Galaxy Note 9, the Galaxy S9 + would have competed against the iPhone X S ] Max, that would have been a more consistent match. But with the price decline of the S9 + and the similar screen size, for some, these two phones are pitted against each other. And while the iPhone X R is a great iPhone for the money, it's going to have a hard time finding the more reasonably priced Galaxy S9 +, which offers more features for less.

In the battle between these two medium-sized cell phones, Team Samsung will shout loudest. Apart from the screen size, it will be hard for the iPhone X R to compete against its Samsung counterpart here.

iPhone X R has 6.1 Liquid Retina HD IPS LCD. It is calibrated for improved clarity and the brightness is comparable to a typical LCD. The problem is, the Galaxy S9 + has an OLED display like the more expensive iPhone X S and X S Max. Samsung has introduced its Super AMOLED technology for improved contrast (especially for HDR), brighter colors and a sharper image added. It's also 0.1 inches taller and has a much higher resolution of 2960 x 1440 (iPhone X R has a resolution of 1792 x 828). Oh, and it has no display score.

So, while the iPhone X R is a great display, I think we can safely say that this is a win for Team Samsung.

cameras

Photography is another feature that's a little bit awry. The iPhone X R has a single 12-MP ƒ / 1.8 lens and quad LED true-tone flash. It's a wide-angle lens, so it has no optical zoom, but it has OIS (optical image stabilization). The images are also improved thanks to the post-processing by the new A12 Bionic SoC.

And then there are the cameras in the Galaxy S9 +. Samsung has two cameras built into its device, one of which can adjust its aperture. The primary lens of the Galaxy S9 +, known as the variable aperture, can automatically (or manually) change the aperture of the lens from ƒ / 1.8 to ƒ / 2.4, allowing the user to better control how much light that is Lens receives. As for the front camera, selfies should be better on the iPhone thanks to the inclusion of TrueDepth. They use some of the new sensors that enable FaceID , The result is selfies with bokeh effect that are changeable with different lighting modes and have an adjustable depth of field. Samsung simply has a regular front camera with 8 megapixels.

Storage & Battery

Regarding storage capacity, Samsung gets another slight advantage. Both Samsung and Apple offer the same variants of 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB of internal memory. Unfortunately, the iPhone X R does not support the microSD, and the Galaxy S9 + supports this, allowing the latter to expand their storage to even greater volumes.

As in earlier times, Apple no longer reveals the battery capacity of the new device. So we have to wait for the teardown to get the official number, which is usually below the industry average. However, since Apple has so much control over its product, the new device after Apple will have more than 1.5 hours more than the iPhone 8.

Samsung has not withheld the Galaxy S9 +, however. An impressive 3,500 mAh battery. This is 500 mAh more than the smaller model with only a 0.4 inch increase in screen size. Like Apple, this is a full-time battery and then a lot.

Price

As with our other comparison, pricing Samsung favors. Not only did the Galaxy S9 + initially sell at lower prices than the iPhone X R as it came out seven months before the iPhone X R its price has already dropped. Currently, you can unlock the S9 + for $ 619.99, a theft at this price.

The iPhone X R is retailing for $ 749.99. While this is a great price for a brand new iPhone, it is still $ 130 more than the Galaxy S9 +, a big difference for someone of the fence between the two phones.

Conclusion

The iPhone X R is the spiritual successor to the iPhone 5C. With most of the features of the iPhone X S and X S Max is a much better color picker, it's been one of the most exciting iPhones in years and the first time it was not so financially to buy. Compared to the Galaxy S9 +, however, it is not a better deal. While I do not expect Apple's ecosystem to change, those who do not mind the operating system will be better off with the S9 + for their money.
