An attorney for Illinois teenager Kyle Rittenhouse, who is on first degree murder charges in connection with a shootout that killed two people and injured a third person last week in Kenosha, Wisconsin, told Tucker Carlson Tonight on Monday. that his client acted in self-defense.
“He was in imminent danger of serious injury or death,” said John Pierce to host Tucker Carlson. “That’s 100% self-defense Tucker – Kyle is a good kid.”
Pierce said Rittenhouse traveled to Kenosha from his home in Antiochia, Illinois to help a friend who owns a business in Kenosha and who feared for his property after two nights of rioting following the police shooting of Jacob Blake.
Rittenhouse brought a first aid kit to provide help if needed. At one point, Pierce said, Rittenhouse was isolated from business when riot police changed positions while Rittenhouse tried to put out the fires caused by the rioters.
“There was one shot that was fired when Kyle was actually pulling away from a mob who had gotten angry that they were trying to put out the fires the arsonists started trying to protect property,”
“They started screaming that Kyle had to be killed and they were going to kill him. They started relentlessly chasing him for prey as he ran down the street trying to retreat,” Pierce continued. “When there was no more room to retreat, shots were fired behind him.”
At some point Rittenhouse stumbled and a protester appeared immediately over him, while a second tried to disarm him.

Pierce said one of the men involved in the fight, identified by local media as a BLM volunteer medic named Gaige Grosskreutz, was holding a gun when he was shot in the arm by Rittenhouse.
“He fired and disarmed the person and punched them in the arm,” Pierce said. “He shot the other person who attacked him. And I have to tell you, if you really think about it, Tucker, in this war zone, in this mess that’s in this city in America in the middle of Wisconsin, Kyle – the only ones People who shot Kyle were the three people who attacked him, putting him at risk of serious injury or death.
“This is a 17 year old kid,” added Pierce. “That’s great.”

Pierce then asked why Rittenhouse was in jail, while Grosskreutz was not charged with illegal gun possession.
“He shot this man in the arm and the man withdrew. This man survived. This man was not charged,” Carlson later commented. “He came to a 17 year old with a gun. Why wasn’t he charged?
“Here’s the question I have for Tucker: where are the grievous bodily harm charges against Kyle Rittenhouse … and where are the charges against the people who sponsor and sponsor this activity?” Pierce asked again.
