At the beginning of the second half of 2018, rumors about the second season of flagships have sprung up. On the Android side, this means the latest versions of Google Pixel, Galaxy Note, LG V series and Huawei Mate. Thanks to FunkyHuawei and XDA, we now hear some solid rumors about the Huawei Mate 20.
Despite our hopes for the introduction of the P series in the US, it seems as though we are just going to get stuck the Mate series. I use "stuck" loose as these are great phones that consistently rank high on the list of best sleeper phones. Based on recent leaks, the Mate 20 looks set to reiterate this list as Huawei continues to push the smartphones data sheet.

The New Kirin 980
The heart of the new Huawei Mate 20 is the latest entry in HiSilicon's Kirin lineup, the Kirin 980. This is the first SoC to feature the 7 nm process used by TSMC, 3 nm smaller than last year's Kirin 970. Thanks to this smaller process, the SoC has improved by a total of 20%, with a 40% improvement in energy efficiency. 19659002] T The Kirin 980 is also the first SoC to use the new Cortex A76 cores, which are 75% more powerful than the previous generation. They are more energy efficient and offer an improvement of 58%. These cores are arranged in a three-level structure, with two Cortex-A76 cores at a higher frequency and two Cortex-A76 cores at a slightly lower frequency, plus four "small" Cortex-A55 cores.
Compared to the large, lightweight design of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, this new arrangement allows the SoC to handle more types of situations, including immediate, intense loads, sustained high-intensity depths, and light activities that do not require processing power. A76 cores.
As with mobile games, the Kirin 980 is paired with a Mali G76 GPU, which, like the CPU, represents a huge improvement over the previous generation. The Mali-G76 has 46% more graphics processing power than the previous generation and improves energy efficiency by 178% . The result is that gaming on this new chipset is much better, while battery life is much lower.
And just like last year, Huain has focused on AI starting with an integrated NPU. The new Kirin 980 features two NPUs for more processing power and improved intelligence. The AI enhancement for photography helps you spot objects and scenes faster, so you can take better photos faster. And for apps that use this power, they'll be able to use machine learning enhancements faster for an overall better experience.
Finally, there is a new image signal processor for better photos and a new cat. 21 Modem a premiere for smartphones. With this modem, all Kirin 980 devices (starting with the Huawei Mate 20 and 20 Pro) can receive download speed at a theoretical maximum speed of 1.4 Gbps.
According to XDA First Signs, there is a 6.3-inch AMOLED panel. Based on the Mate 10 Pro, I would guess that Huawei will use a Samsung panel again. Rumor has it that this will be a Quad HD display with 1440p resolution.
This rumor size was also confirmed by the reputable Leaker, @OnLeaks who Tweeted that, according to his sources, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro would indeed be 6.25 inches (which is 6.3 rounds). He also gave us the dimensions of the notch and chin, which are .277 inches and .15 inches, respectively. As for the Mate 20, it is likely to share the same size screen, but use a much smaller notch.
A True Face ID Competitor
Last year, Huawei showed its Point Cloud Depth Camera, a 3D facial scan technology that they believe is more accurate and safer than Apple's Face ID. Huawei's technology was able to map a 300,000-point cloud (or dots) in 10 seconds. For a shorter period of time, when the second or second person expects the phone to unlock, Huawei's point cloud camera could show more points than the face ID.
More points mean better accuracy in face recognition. The more points are used to reconstruct your face, the greater the chance of discovering small differences that separate you from a (potential) twin. The same technology is also used for Animojis (but Huawei's version) and object reconstruction (to measure an object and create an accurate 3D model to its exact dimensions).
This could be the first Huawei triple-camera device to hit the US shores. Thanks to the ongoing struggle between the Chinese manufacturer and the US government, the Americans missed the first Huawei triple-channel phone, the P20 Pro. However, if a new leak turns out to be true, we could have been lucky with the Mate 20.
According to QQ, the Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro will both have triple camera arrays, unlike the P20 series, where only the larger device had the three cameras. Each is rearranged differently, with the Pro version using an L-shaped design and the Mate 20 having a layout similar to the P20, but along the center of the back cover. The earlier new design was confirmed by FrAndroid, who saw an L-shaped photosensor during the Kirin 980 event at IFA 2018.
According to rumors, there will be a similar, but slightly downscaled version of the camera system of the P20 Pro. The Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro use a 12 MP RGB lens from the Sony IMX380, a 16 MP monochrome Sony IMX600 and an 8 MP telephoto lens (no details on which sensor uses this lens). Since the price of the modules fell by about 33% in the second half, this should not have a negative impact on the overall price of the Mate 20.
There is a rumor that the main camera is actually the same 40MP RGB sensor from the P20 but this information has been questioned.
Wireless Charge (Finally)
19659004] According to XDA, Huawei will finally recharge the Mate Series wirelessly. Despite the introduction of a glass back on the Mate 10, Huawei decided against wireless charging for a reason similar to OnePlus – it was too slow. However, it seems that Huawei has heard the call and decided to add the coveted features to their upcoming devices.
According to Gizmochina, Huawei could imagine a new and improved wireless charging station next to the Mate 20, which is likely to be the main reason for wireless charging in addition. According to Gizmochina, the new wireless charging technology would allow a dock to charge multiple devices at the same time.
In-Display Fingerprint Scanner
Earlier reports showed that Huawei would like to call the Mate 20 one of the few phones with an in-display fingerprint scanner. According to XDA, the Mate 20 Pro will contain this technology, but the Mate 20 or Lite version will not be included. If this rumor comes true, it will be one of six phones that include this feature, with more coming next year.
Rumors say it's not the same in-display fingerprint scanner like in previous cell phones. According to BGR, the scanner in the Mate 20 will be Qualcomm's second generation ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. This technology is much more accurate than the in-display fingerprint scanner in the Vivo X21 UD. It is also able to work in thicker displays, up to 800 microns compared to 300 microns of older technology.
According to QQ, the technology will be optimized with Huawei's algorithm based on Liu Haiping design. With this optimization, it should be much faster than previous devices that include the property that is typically criticized for slightly slower performance.
According to BGR, Huawei is likely to monopolize this technology by February 2019, preventing any phone from using it in the meantime. Similar to the strategy implemented by Samsung with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, this will likely prevent Samsung from incorporating the same in-display technology into the Galaxy S10 if it does not delay its release.
Created after rendering With XDA, the Mate 20 supports stereo speakers. In addition to the speakers with floor lighting, there is a speaker above the small display notch under the grill, and the two work in unison. There is no indication that Huawei lends money from Samsung and includes some third party names to configure the speakers specifically for the device (but do not count that out).
According to XDA, this will also be the first Huawei phone to that starts with Android P As usual, EMUI will be up to date with the skin updated to 9.0 and the version number of Android P. It brings some new changes, including improvements in battery life and safety. While we do not know how the skin will visually change, expect Huawei to bring many of the visual changes you expect from EMUI skins.
Price & Availability
We know that the Mate 10 Pro in the US for $ 799. Therefore, we believe that the Mate 20 or Mate 20 Pro (which version they want to give us) will be at least $ 50 more than that, about $ 849. However, with all the rumors changes and the higher prices of Apple and Samsung flagships, Huawei has a bit of wobble phone to increase profit margins, while the cheaper option remains. Therefore, our assumption is a price between $ 899- $ 949.
However, according to a recent leak on Slashleaks, the price of the Mate will be $ 20 999. This price would mean that the Pro version costs at least $ 100 more, about $ 1099. However, this leak has been questioned, taking it with even more grains of salt than the other rumors.
As for availability, Huawei sends invitations for an event on October 16 in London, run by the Kirin 980. So more than likely, that's the date for the upcoming devices.
Huawei seems determined to ship 200 million smartphones to the end of the year. With such a competitive offer (at least on paper) with the Mate 20 series, it looks like they can reach their destination. What do you think about the Mate 20 Pro?
