If you forget to charge your MacBook properly overnight, it can cause headaches in the morning. If you are using a faulty MacBook for troubleshooting, checking the charging process is one way to avoid battery problems.
Older Macbooks Have Lights on the Charging Cable
If your MacBook was manufactured before 201
If You Have A new MacBook with a Type C USB charger is another story. The USB-C charger does not have an indicator light. If your MacBook does not turn on, you may not know if the battery is the cause or if the cable is just damaged.
If you have a charger If you're using a really old cable or a third-party cable, you may also be missing the light.
If you want to test a USB-C cable without light, check it by keeping it connected for a while and checking if the power brick is present becomes warm. You will generate heat during the charging process. If it is not charged, it is cold.
Another thing you can try is to light the Apple logo on the back with a flashlight. If you can see something on the screen, it means that your backlight is broken (a fairly common problem that is often misunderstood because it does not turn on at all) and you should find an Apple Store. Or you may have turned down the brightness altogether and your MacBook is fine.
Tip: Newer MacBooks emit sound when you connect the charger. It's one thing that sounds like the sound of plugging in an iPhone, but it's quieter. Also, you will not hear it if your laptop's sound is off or the battery is completely dead when you connect the cable. You can still try to disconnect and reconnect the cable to hear the sound. When you hear it, you know it's charging.
Is it on and the screen is visible?
If so, the battery status is shown at the top Menu bar and apps that use lots of juice and warnings when the battery is old (and does not hold the charge well). When the battery is charging, a lightning bolt icon appears over the battery icon.
If the icon does not appear in the menu bar, it may be disabled. Open the System Settings app and click on the icon of an energy-saving lamp that's shaped like a light bulb. In the lower section, "Show battery status in menu bar" should be displayed. Make sure this option is turned on.
You can also set other power settings here, including the speed of your battery. Display turns off when not in use.
If all else fails and you still have problems with a broken MacBook, you should contact your Apple Store for repairs.
