Judge Amy Coney Barrett stood before her third day of Supreme Court confirmation hearings on Wednesday.
Senate Democrats tried to urge them to admire the late Judge Antonin Scalia and suggested using him as a guide for future cases.
“I hope you’re not suggesting that I don’t have my own thoughts,” Barrett said, “or that I couldn’t think independently, or that I would just decide, ‘Let me see what Justice Scalia said about this in the past. ‘
“I assure you, I have my own thoughts.”
