Sally has been weakened to a tropical depression but is still causing heavy rains over eastern Alabama and western Georgia, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).
The remnants of the storm could fall to a foot of rain, spreading the risk of flooding to Georgia and the Carolinas after heavy winds, flooding and a dangerous storm surge hit the Gulf Coast on Wednesday. Meanwhile, coastal residents hope to begin the recovery process after at least one person was killed and hundreds had to be rescued.
