Magic Leap is now David versus Apple's Goliath, and Microsoft goes to Hollywood «Next Reality



While Magic Leap has received attention for its ability to raise capital, the company (now with an actual product on the market) is still facing a rise against the titans of the industry.

There is the imminent presence of Apple, which did not even have an AR product or service to its name 18 months ago. Now the trillion-dollar company is leading the mobile AR app ecosystem, and its own AR wearable is reported to arrive earlier than expected. And there's Microsoft, which did not start to prototype HoloLens after Magic Leap came out of the stealth scene and still put Magic Leap One on the market. Now Microsoft is moving even faster, by promoting the same developer market that Magic Leap is focusing on by launching another Microsoft Mixed Reality Capture Studio.

A variety of AR startups such as Ubiquity6 have similar hopes to bring their technology to developers and developers customers, even though they do not have close to the war chest that has accumulated Magic Leap. But, like Magic Leap, Ubiquity6 now has a new funding that makes it a company in the AR space.
