Applicants working on the first annual L.E.A.P. from Magic Leap. The next month's conference in Los Angeles received their confirmation invitations, and now we have more details about some events happening at the event.
In a message sent by Magic Leap on Friday, the company announced the names of several key representatives of the technology and entertainment industries who will speak at the event.
Among those speakers is Andy Serkis, the famous motion capture actor whose studio, in collaboration with Magic Leap, creates content for the Magic Leap One. Also Richard Taylor, the co-founder of Weta Workshop, the studio behind the upcoming Magic Leap One game "Dr. Grordbort: Invaders", will be available.
But the most interesting name in the first list of L.E.A.P. The conference speaker is John Donovan, the CEO of AT & T Communications. We already know that Magic Leap plans to roll out a number of demo sites in partnership with AT & T for the public to test the augmented reality device. But what is still a mystery is exactly what the general nature of the relationship with AT & T means for the short-term future of the device.
Although the Magic Leap One is actually a mobile device, it currently does not require a cordless phone carrier, rather the connection to the Internet is made via Wi-Fi. Therefore, the probable path of the relationship is a sort of wireless package for a future, more consumer-friendly version of the Magic Leap One.
Donovan is unlikely to announce any big news at the event, but his presentation could help shed some light on the collaboration between AT & T and Magic Leap.
