Following the announcement of the abolition of MS Paint in 2017, Microsoft has gone the other direction. Microsoft Paint does not just endure in Windows 10 – Microsoft has just updated it with new keyboard controls!
This is a pretty big news. Microsoft "obsolete" MS Paint in 201
All these plans have been canceled. MS Paint remains in Windows 10 and will not be moved to the store. Most shockingly, Microsoft has begun to update it with new accessibility features:
We know that Microsoft Paint (MSPaint) is very popular with customers, and we're excited about new accessibility features for Microsoft Paint when we released Windows Update May 10, 2019.
We introduced the keyboard as a primary input mechanism. Microsoft Paint is already fully functional with mouse and multi-touch tablet inputs, but customers can now use the app and draw only with their keyboard.
If the Windows 10 update is available in May 2019, you can use your keyboard to draw and perform other actions in Paint. You can move the cursor with the arrow keys, press the space bar to activate the selected tool, and hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the arrow keys to move the drawing area. The full list of keyboard shortcuts can be found in Microsoft's blog post.
Microsoft ends the blog post from "the MSPaint Team" by asking users to tell us what's going to happen and what we can do to improve , That's pretty big: we knew that MS Paint was not dead, but we had no idea that Microsoft was still updating it. It is an integral part of the Windows and Web culture. Updating this old tool may seem silly, but it's worth making it available to more people. Paint 3D is cute, but it is something completely different. Microsoft Paint can not be replaced.
