Text conversations and group chats can sometimes lead to random and nonsensical conversations that overwhelm you with annoying notifications. Of course this can distract you and prevent you from focusing on more important things. Fortunately, Samsung Messages includes a feature that minimizes distractions in sprawling conversations.
Granted, it's fun to get involved in the joke and talk about lyrics and group chats with loved ones as a reward if you're trying to do things at work or at school. Even if you can move out of a group chat or block a contact altogether, this solution may be too extreme if you only want to pause news alerts temporarily.
In this sense, Samsung Messages lets you easily mute chats to help you focus better. Although the process is fairly straightforward, the app does not appear to have a muting option if you open it and click the three-dot menu button at the top right where you would expect.
However, if you press long on a target conversation, a button for the target is displayed in the lower-left corner Mute is displayed at the bottom of the screen. Simply select the chats you want to mute, then press the Mute "Mute" button. Once this is done, all silenced threads will display a crossed-out bell indicating the status of the mute.
Annoying conversations that are muted You can now focus on more important things without being distracted by uninterrupted notifications. Once you're free to chat, you can easily unmute chats by following the steps above and tapping Notifications again.
