You can make a pouch as waterproof as you like, but liquids can pass through a traditional metal or plastic zipper. That's the problem that outdoor supplier Nite Ize wanted to solve with his new RunOff bags.
Nite Ize had to develop a completely new approach to zippers that triggered a century or two of conventions to create a seal whose sides grasp each other every inch. When the "TRU Zip" head pushes into the groove at the other end, the soft pouch is absolutely airtight: exerting a hundred pounds of force on the top will not cause squeaking.
The company aims to attract general travelers because the bags are ideal to keep liquids from shaving sets and cosmetic bags from leaking. They also lend themselves to waterproof, waterproof inserts that protect a damp swimsuit from moisturizing the inside of your backpack. Outdoor and camping enthusiasts, or anyone who gets drenched unpredictably, could also find use.
The RunOff bags have no compromise: they take much more power than a regular bag to close. enough that small children or those with arthritis may not be able to fully close them. But with bags the size of a wallet up to about eighteen inches square you should be able to find one for many uses. Prices range from $ 25 to $ 55, depending on their size, and will be available immediately.
