If you take Apple's new flagship smartphone, theand are ready to make the leap to a widescreen Android smartphone ̵
Create a Google Account
If you do not have a Google Account yet, it's time to set up an account. Go to your Android phone Menu> Settings> Accounts & sync> Add account> Google . Follow the instructions on the screen to link your Gmail account to your new phone.
You can also create a new Google Account before you receive your new Android smartphone. Just go to accounts.google.com and click Create Account .
Transfer photos, contacts, and calendars
You want to bring your photos and videos safely from your iPhone ($ 916 at Amazon Marketplace) to your new Android phone, along with your contacts and calendar events. Luckily, Google Drive is a breeze.
If you're not already using the app, install Google Drive on your iPhone and sign in with the same Google Account you use on your Android phone.
Start Google Drive, tap the Hamburger Button in the top left corner and then the Gear Icon to open Settings. In the Settings pane, tap Backup and you'll see three categories:
- Calendar Events
- Photos and Videos
Choose which one to include in your backup, and for Photos & Videos you have two options: High Quality or Original .
Unless you're a professional photographer, I recommend high quality so you do not have to worry about running out of space. It will give you unlimited free storage and only photos larger than 16 megapixels and videos larger than 1080p will be resized.
When the backup options are set, scroll down and tap Start Backup . Be patient; Depending on the size of your photo and video library, the backup process could take hours.
What about my songs, man?
Do you have a huge and finely curated music collection in iTunes, right? You can upload up to 50,000 of your songs on Google Play. Grab your laptop or go to your PC, go to this Google Play page to install the Music Manager app, and follow the instructions to move your music to the cloud, where it's ready to go on your new Android device. Rock your smartphone.
