Augmented reality beauty tools have become quite popular lately, and while CoverGirls has not just turned heads, Wannaby's new Wanna Nails app looks like a great tool for anyone who uses nail polish
Wanna Nails iOS and Android), you can try on nail polishes before you buy them by overlaying the colors on your own nails. It offers brands like ORLY, CND Vinylux and Essie – so you're looking for real nail polish here, not abstract colors.
The app does a great job of detecting nails and then placing the colors in the right place, which is a process. There is also a hand outline guide that the app places in any environment. Once you've found the color that suits you, there's a handy button that takes you to Amazon so you can easily buy the product online. Wanna Nails is powered by "classic computer vision approaches and modern deep CNNs [convolutional neural network ]," said Arseny Kravchenko, head of R & D at Wannaby, in response to a user at Product Hunt who asks for the basics of the app. "Models are trained locally with TF [TensorFlow] and PyTorch and run on devices with CoreML (for iOS) and TF Mobile (for Android)."
Wannaby went out of her way to make your AR nails as divisible as possible, with a handy camera icon in the upper left corner that takes a picture of your fingernails, as well as the ability to share directly on Instagram by typing tapping the corresponding logo.
