Many native New Yorkers, like me, have the opportunity to visit the famous Statue of Liberty during school outings if they are a primary school child. And if you are not lucky enough to be born in the city, as a tourist you have to make a special trip to the monument.

Unfortunately, many can not afford the time and expense of making such a big trip to the city Big Apple to see one of America's treasures. Well, that's not a problem anymore, as there is an augmented reality app that will get you there directly from your palm.

Released in conjunction with the opening of the new Statue of Liberty Museum on Liberty Island, New York. With the Statue of Liberty app for iOS (not yet an Android version), you can experience the awe and wonder associated with the massive, iconic statue that has been welcoming immigrants for over a century to 1

00 million dollars for construction over several years Years starting in 2016, this week saw an opening hosted by stars such as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, film and TV star Oprah Winfrey, and well-known illusionist David Copperfield, who once performed The Statue of Liberty disappears in the 80's.

When users open the free AR app, they have immediate access to an interactive history of the memorial, a comprehensive audio tour, and panoramic views of the statue that give you an impression of the bird's eye view of its detail. Users can also house a human-sized version of the statue.

The app was developed by Yap Studios in collaboration with Apple and Diane Von Furstenberg, a major fundraiser for the new museum.

As a didactic tool, this is one of the most sophisticated and multi-dimensional AR apps we've ever seen, with detailed historical information about the evolution and role of the statue in the city over the years (definitely play with the travel time functions). and a podcast that explores the meaning of the monument.

More importantly though, the app is another example of how AR can be used to eradicate borders and open the world much like "Lady Liberty" has millions of newcomers in America for many years.
