As NVIDIA continues to build its RTX 3000 GPUs, the company is reducing the fat from its popular Jetson Nano developer kit. The new Jetson Nano only has 2GB of RAM instead of the usual 4GB, but has the same CPU and 4K video processor. At $ 60, it̵
The Jetson Nano 2GB is a single board computer. It’s pretty similar to the Raspberry Pi, but with a stronger focus on GPU performance than CPU performance. And when you’re dealing with AI, you need all of the GPU power that you can get.
Like the first Nano, the new 2 GB model supports 4K 60 Hz video decoding, which is perfect for AI applications such as object identification or motion tracking. Up to eight video feeds can also be decoded at the same time, although the feeds have a bottleneck at 1080p and 30 Hz.
Hobbyists shouldn’t have any problems getting started with the Jetson Nano 2GB, as it has the standard GPIO pins, USB ports, and HDMI output that you would expect from a modern single-board computer. It also has a Gigabit Ethernet port and A built-in Wi-Fi module – a slight quality of life upgrade from Jetson Nano 4GB.
NVIDIA’s 2GB Jetson Nano Developer Kit is available for pre-order today and ships on October 26th. Use it with NVIDIA’s Jetson AI Specialist certification program for a quick and reliable introduction to AI and robotics.
