As we slowly emerge from the pandemic, life is gradually beginning to return to normal. Most of time. Worship services are restricted where I live, and gatherings – like weddings – over 50 cause the police to break up. (Demonstrations are a different thing.) Gyms are back with social distancing. Shopping IRL comes back without queuing outside, but (unfortunately) many shops in the neighborhood have closed, from chains like On the table to quirky little ones like the video rental company that specializes in Japanese cinema. Indoor dining is back – mostly – but movies are still banned. And who knows what Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas or Hanukkah will be like.
