Keep yourself cool (and your phone).

Even though temperatures are soaring this weekend and some states are feeling well above 1

00 degrees, it is likely that people are still outside. Pools, lakes, beaches, and water parks (wherever you can cool off, but may still be tanning) are likely to have a considerable amount.

Not only should you pack your sunscreen, cooler with water bottles, sunglasses and hat to protect your head, but also think about your phone during the heat wave this weekend.

Here are some tips for protecting your phone from heat and avoiding this scary warning:

Limit the use of your phone to heat

Ideally, you want to turn off your phone but we understand that that is not always possible. If anything, just turn off anything you do not use – Bluetooth, LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS and all apps. This prevents your phone from working overtime and heating up the battery.

Protect your phone from direct sunlight.

When you're by the pool or on the beach, tuck your phone under your towel or in a beach bag. This is preventative, but it also helps if a warning message appears on your phone that it is overheating.

Do not leave it in a hot spot.

Do not leave your phone in the car while galloping outside while exposed to direct sunlight. There are many videos about how hot the interior of a car can be in summer. The <a href= National Weather Service in Omaha has actually baked cookies in a car. So excuse the pun, but your phone would be toast.

1. Turn off the phone.
2. Put it in a cool, dark place.
3. Remove the charging cable when you have inserted it.
4. Remove the housing when it is in one.
5. Let cool air blow on it (from your car's air conditioner, a fan, or your fridge for a short period of time (19459024).) This will help lower the phone's internal temperature faster and get it up and running again :
