Slide numbers are an excellent way to quickly navigate to a specific slide in your PowerPoint presentation. If the slide numbers are no longer needed, you may want to remove them. This is how it works:
Remove the slide number of one or all slides
First, open the PowerPoint slide show with the slide numbers you want to remove. The slide number is displayed in the upper left corner of each slide.
Next, go to the "Text" group on the "Insert" tab and select "Slide Number".
When selected, the Header and Footer dialog box appears. On the Slide tab, clear the check box next to Slide Number. If you want to remove the number from only of the selected slide, choose Apply (2). If you want to remove the numbers from each slide in the presentation, choose Apply to All (3).
Removing the slide numbers from the title slide
You may want to remove the slide number only from the title slide. The numbering of this slide is probably not required because most understand that the title slide is the first slide in your presentation.
To remove the slide number from the title slide only, select Slide Number in the Text group to open the Header and Footer dialog box again. This time, check the box next to "Do not show on the title slide".
If you accidentally hit the title slide when the dialog box opened, choose Apply. However, if you were on For any other slide, you must select "Apply to all" for it to work.
