If you arrive in New York City or outside your neighborhood and charge fast until October 24th – without buying coffee – just check out the kiosks in the five districts of LinkNYC (info here)) … and You could see a message from Senior Planet.
LinkNYC kiosks provide high-speed wireless, phone calls anywhere in the US, charging devices, a touchscreen tablet for access to urban services, maps and directions emergency button 911. All of these services are free to use. Kiosks also have two 55-inch high-definition digital screens for public announcements and commercials … such as those in Harlem, pictured left.
LinkNYC is a novel communications network that will replace more than 7,500 wages in five districts. To set up the phone for free Wi-Fi, follow the steps described here.
Senior Planet has contacted LinkNYC to attend. The content development and copy came from the Senior Planet / Services Team for Older Adults by Elizabeth Pooran, Training Manager, Marisa Giorgi, PhD, D Curriculum Development Director, Kimberly Ziegler, PhD urriculum Manager, and Allison Adams, Program Manager – Montgomery County. The eye-catching designs were designed by graphic designer Elke Aspillera.
"We wanted to select facts and statistics that were fun, interesting, and somehow associated with the larger themes of the senior planet, such as empowerment, purpose, and influence," explains Allison Adams , "The ads contain facts about technology, but the message is how viewers can leverage this technology – and how joining Senior Planet could help them get started."
