Adding routines to Amazon's Alexa meant that it was only a matter of time before it came to Google, which was the case earlier this year. Google will not let the Assistant feature – the digital, voice-activated interface that supports the Google Home device product line and let you communicate with your Android smartphone via Android – lag far behind Alexa if it can help.
What is a routine? ? The simple answer is that you set Google Home to listen to just one command, but to take multiple actions. You could say "Hey Google, I'm out," which will cause Google Home to play music so your dogs and turn off all lights. Or say "OK, Google, I'm going home," and the Google Assistant could text your spouse that you're on the road, and reset your smart thermostat so the temperature on your arrival is just right.
That may sound complicated, but setting up a routine is easy. That's how it's done.
