We'll see in October when the sixth and final season of HBO's Emmy-nominated comedy about flawed but lovable techies from Northern California begins.
What we know about Season 6 so far.
When is the release date?
After production delays, Silicon Valley returns to HBO on Sunday, October 27th.
How many episodes will there be?
The last season, with only seven episodes, is the shortest in the series, compared to 8 to 10 episodes in previous seasons. Episodes are available once a week.
Do we have a trailer?
Yup. Ashows how Richard testified before the Congress on the security of user data and looked even more cumbersome than .
"He looks like a kid in a messy pre-trial detention," snarls Richards employee Gilfoyle (Martin Starr).
In addition to Richard's unpredictable testimony, the trailer shows Jian Yang (Jimmy O. Yang) confess to doing something illegal, and Hooli's Gavin Belson (Matt Ross) seems ready to take on Amazon and asks, "Is It's a river? Is it supposed to be a huge woman? It's not clear! "
T.J. Miller acted as entrepreneur and incubator Wrangler Erlich Bachman until he retired after the fourth season with great notoriety from the show. We last saw him lying in the Tibetan Opium Cave where Gavin Belson had left him, and there was not a word about whether he could make a cameo last season.
What we know about the plot
Not much, except what we saw in the trailer. We know that Pied Piper's People, People, and People Internet seems to be influential enough to give Hendricks a seat in front of Congress, and that Jian Yang is back as direct as ever. If the show continues with the usual patterns, the Pied Piper team will face more obstacles on their way to success, but in the end it will probably triumph, probably due to some unforeseen last-minute maneuvers.
"Silicon Valley was a career and life highlight for us," said showrunners Mike Judge and Alec Berg in May, when HBO announced plans to end the show. "We'll miss it a lot, but we've always been guided by Pied Piper's journey, and Season 6 seems to be the perfect fit."
How can I watch?
To see the final season, you need a subscription to HBO (or a friend with one). However, if you do not have a cable, you can pay for HBO Now, a streaming subscription version of HBO that does not work. You do not need a regular cable subscription (or even a TV). Are you not sure if you like it? You can stream HBO Now for free for 30 days. Find out about past seasons through HBO, Amazon Prime, iTunes and Hulu.
What's next for the creative team?
HBO has ordered two new comedies from Mike Judge, who also co-wrote Beavis and Butt-head and King of the Hill. QualityLand, an adaptation of the satirical dystopian novel by German author Marc-Uwe Kling, tells the story of "the struggle of humanity against the tyranny of convenience – but funny". Judge will act as Executive Producer and co-author of the show, which will be playing in the near future.
Judge's second upcoming project for HBO entitled A5 is a limited live action series about a bioengineer who discovers the gene responsible for turning people into assholes. The protagonist will try to "answer the questions that plague us all: why are there assholes, why have they dominated our culture, and can they be healed?"
In the meantime, Alec Berg will continue to work on the critically acclaimed HBO comedy "Dark Comedy Barry," co-authored with Bill Hader and the executive producer.
This story was originally published on September 4 and will be updated regularly as soon as the news of Season 6 comes out.
