After the initial test more than three months ago, Snap Inc. is finally letting the public access its new Spectacles 3 portable device.
The limited Shades are Mineral (Gold) and Carbon (Black). and features a number of features that upgrade from the previous version of Spectacles.
We've only been holding Spectacles 3 in our hands for a few days, so we can do an in-depth hands-on analysis soon, but for the moment we can confirm that the new Spectacles 3 is definitely a significant upgrade from all previous versions.
With its lightweight frame and much smaller form factor, this is pretty much the only way you'll ever know it's technology. Wearables are made possible by looking at the cameras mounted on either side of the frame.
Like the previous version, Glasses 3 Records high-definition video and still images, but now there is an additional camera that allows you to enhance your stored images.
The added camera lets you add 3D Augmented Reality effects to video after you save it to the Snapchat app. What may not be readily apparent from some of the demo videos you've seen is how good the occlusion is with some of the 3D effects (something we'll detail in our hands-on labs).
