Nintendo recently announced a new version of the Switch console with longer battery life. The problem is that the improved model is not marketed as a "new" switch. Therefore, it may be difficult to know which one to buy.

The good news is that when you shop for your care, you can console the upgraded model fairly easily. But first a few precautions.

  • The new switch will be available in August . If you want the newer version of the console, you must wait until August. There is still no fixed date that clouds water.
  • If you want to make sure you get the new model, you'll need to buy it in person. It's almost impossible to check which console you get when you order online, especially at the beginning. As you'll see, you'll need to check the box carefully to make sure you get the updated model. So, at least in the foreseeable future, I would focus on buying in stores.

Well, here's what to look out for to make sure you get the latest switch.

Take a look at the box

Although Nintendo does not market this as a "new" switch ̵

1; after all, it's just a slightly over-worked version of the existing console – the kit is put into a new box. The current box it has used since the release of the switch looks like this:

The updated box looks a little redder, however:

<p> Alone, it makes <em> pretty </em> easy to tell which switch you get – if you take the old box, make sure you switch it to the new one. But if you <em> damn it </em> want to make sure you get the new one, you can also check the unique identifiers. </p>
<h2> Check the model and serial numbers. </h2>
<p> Once you get the most red box you should check the model number to make sure Nintendo has not pressed a fast button and put an older switch in a newer box. </p>
<p> The new switch bears the model number <strong> HAC-001 (-01) </strong>. The older switch is only <strong> HAC-001. </strong> You can find additional information at the end of the model number of the new console. </p><div><script async src=

The serial numbers have been slightly adjusted. The serial number of the new switch starts with "XKW", while the original model starts with "XAW". With just a quick check, you can make sure you have at least two more hours of battery life when you pick up your new switch console. Are you going?
