Fan Reactions to the CGI

When Paramount Pictures unveiled a motion poster for the new film in December 2018, the fans were upset about the classic Sega video game character Sonic Der Hedgehog did not look like they remembered him.

On the poster, Sonic's arms and muscular legs look almost human, instead of cartoning as usual. He is also covered in blue fur and wears realistic looking sneakers.

Miller said the changes were made to make the character feel like they belong in a live-action environment. "He will not feel like a Pixar character because I do not think that's the right aesthetic to make him appear as part of our world," Miller said in December 2018.

As the first trailer The film fell on May 1, fans were even more shocked by Sonic's realistic features, which included human-like teeth.

Fowler responded with a tweet on May 2, 2019 on the outrage of fans about the new design. "Thanks for the support and the criticism The message is loud and clear … You are not I'm not satisfied with the design and you want changes It's gonna happen Everyone at Paramount and Sega is determined to have that character As good as possible. "

On May 30, fan and animator Artur Baranov released his own trailer with a other version of Sonic . He replaced the human-legged movie design with a version inspired by the 90s animated Sonic series. This rather corresponds to the representation of the fictional hedgehog in the Sega video games.

When does it come out?

Fowler announced on May 24 that the release date of the film Sonic the Hedgehog will be postponed from November to February 14, 2020, to give filmmakers more time to revise Sonic.
