Back in August, Sony published a driver program with which the cameras can be used as webcams under Windows 1
The Imaging Edge software works for most of Sony’s latest cameras, including the Alpha DSLR and mirrorless series dating back to the 5100, as well as fifteen DSC-HX, RX, and WX point-and-shoot models and the ZV-1.
To use it, you need a compatible camera (full list under the download link), a USB cable and MacOS 10.13 or higher. It should be a massive upgrade over any standard webcam, assuming you can place your camera far enough from your face to put it in the frame.
