At the San Diego Comic-Con 201

8, we learned that Star Wars: The Clone Wars is returning to Disney's new streaming service with 12 new episodes .

This service is expected to arrive by the end of 2019 – The exact date has not yet been announced – and The Clone Wars should be available on the first day

What is Star Wars: The Clone Wars?

The Clone Wars is a CGI animated series between the events of Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. It revealed the intergalactic conflict that Obi-Wan Kenobi first mentioned in 1977 in A New Hope.

The show is named after the clone soldiers created from the DNA of bounty hunter Jango Fett and who serve the Galactic Republic in the fight against the separatists.

The Clone Wars began with the eponymous feature film in 2008, then five seasons of 108 episodes aired until 2013. The series was discontinued this year after Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm but a sixth season, known as The Lost Missions, gave us another 13 episodes in 2014.

The show is best known for introducing Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker Padawan, who "represented equality," after her voice actress Ashley Eckstein, and became one of the most popular of the franchise characters who never appeared in a live-action movie.

Clone Wars has amassed legions of loyal fans – as evidenced in the crowded convention panels and the # BringBackCloneWars movement's success, galaxy far, far away for a new generation watching on the Cartoon Network.

While the author Brent Friedman 2014 said that the team had planned The Clone Wars until the end of season 8, the refusal led to several character fates not being resolved.

Some of these stories have since been turned into funny novels like Dark Disciple, excellent comic series like Dathomir's son Darth Maul and unfinished story scrolls that are available online, but others have not.

The main character sheets are those of Ahsoka and Darth Maul. The former left the Jedi Order to become a freelance agent after being framed and was nearly sentenced to death at the end of the fifth season, while Maul was captured by his former master Darth Sidious and abducted in the Son of Dathomir comics [19659006] What we know about Season 7

The 10th anniversary panel of the San Diego Comic-Con 2018 surprised fans with a trailer and poster for the new season.

The presence of the Mandalorian Bo-Katan Kryze (seen as a hologram with Ahsoka) suggests that this exchange will result in the siege of Mandalore, one of the last battles of the Clone Wars, which the writer Matt Michnovetz said intended to be the highlight of the eighth and final season.

We approached Lucasfilm, but that does not confirm anything we saw in the trailer. Expect to see more details from the congress panels by the time the new season arrives.

What about the cast?

We know from the trailer that some actors will come back, but an official list still needs to be announced [19659006] What we know about the siege of Mandalore

Executive producer Dave Filoni has much on this arc during the Ahsoka Untold Tales panels at the Star Wars Fan Convention Celebration Europe 2016 reveal – even with the Clone Trooper helmets with orange markings, as seen on the poster. We also have in E.K. Johnston's novel Ahsoka 2016.

Essentially, it's a continuation of the Mandalore story played between season 2 and 5 of the show. Their effect is also evident in the successor series Rebels.

More Stories We Know

We do not know, but it is unlikely that the Siege of Mandalore will take 12 episodes.

It would be very easy for Lucasfilm to fill the rest of the season by providing us with ready-made versions of two unspoken four episode arches, Crystal Crisis on Utapau and The Bad Batch, both of which are available online as incomplete story roles [19659005] That would be logical (especially since The Bad Batch introduces Hunter), but not very exciting.

Star Wars: The clone wars return

There are a few other four-episode bows that we know have focused on Ahsoka's life after leaving the Jedi Order. She gets into the shabby underworld of the galaxy, but has to be careful to use her Jedi abilities to make herself a target.

Another Ahsoka bow would have brought her back into contact with the Jedi as they were trying to save Yoda, a Sith shrine far below the Jedi Temple – and dangerously close to meeting Darth Sidious.

Given the popularity of Ahsoka, it is very likely that they will be used to catch up on the rest of the season ahead.

Cad Bane, a bounty hunter who regularly opposed the Jedi in The Clone Wars, wanted to team up with Boba Fett in one of the unused bows.

Beyond these Ahsoka bows, another focused on bounty hunters Boba Fett and Cad Bane. Cad knew Boba's deceased father Jango (the template for the clone army). They had taken her to Tatooine to rescue a child kidnapped by Tusken Raiders, and Animatics were shown in 2015 in Celebration, Anaheim.

At the 2016 panel, Dave Filoni and Lucasfilm's Story Group-Pablo Hidalgo talked about bringing Yoda and the Bad Batch to Wookiee home planet Kashyyyk. Matt Michnovetz noted that Chewbacca, who appeared in Season 3, played a major role in these episodes .

Filoni also referred to a bow that was basically "top gun with clones." Rex and R2-D2 were stranded together after the clone ground forces quarreled with the pilots.

The Yuuzhan Vong – an extragalactic race of invaders from the non-canon New Jedi Order novel series – I would have made a brief appearance in a bow in which a reconnaissance ship had tested the Republic's defenses (which suggested plans for an invasion). Hidalgo said it was "almost like a X-Files."

The last unloved bow we heard of saw Senator Padme Amidala and Anakin return to the waterworld of Mon Calamari, while Padme wants to end the extended term of Chancellor Palpatine

That's all we said about the unused Clone Wars material, but this guide will be updated with more details as they are released.
