TCL today only shows technology for the future. It also announced some products ready for your dollars purchase in the present. That includes two tablets, a set of true wireless earbuds, and a seniors smartwatch.
With two tablets, the choice is yours
TCL today announced two tablets called the TCL 1
The TABMAX is a 10.1-inch tablet with Android 10. It runs on a MediaTek MT8768T processor, 4 GB of RAM and has 64 GB of storage with a MicroSD slot for expansion. The display runs with a resolution of 2000 x 1200. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The Standard Edition costs € 249 and the LTE model costs € 299 (no word on US pricing yet). Both models have a pen and a typewriter.
The TABMID, as the name suggests, is a lower quality tablet than the TABMAX. You only get an 8-inch (1200 x 1299) display with a few thick bezels. Instead of using MediaTek again for the processor, the TABMID includes a Snapdragon 665 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage with a MicroSD card slot. This time, you get an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. If you use this tablet, you get € 229 back.
Both tablets will hit the market sometime in the fourth quarter of this year.
A medium sized set of true wireless earbuds
TCL also announced a line of true wireless earbuds called the MOVEAUDIO S200. The earphones are rather inexpensive and cost 100 euros. For your money, you can choose between white, black, or teal. The buds are rated IP54 – good enough to be water, dust and oozing resistance. According to TCL, the MOVEAUDIO S200s are equipped with electronic noise suppression, touch controls, wear detection and Google Assistant or Siri compatibility.
What is not included is a long battery life. Each charge will give you around 3.5 hours. The case gives you around 23 hours of playtime before you need a wall plug. The earbuds will be released worldwide in late September.
A SmartWatch for your aging loved ones
Finally, TCL has a new smartwatch aimed directly at seniors. The MOVETIME Family Watch (TCL stands with the name on fire) starts like many smartwatches with a heart rate monitor, sleep tracking and a touch display. But that’s what sets the features apart.
It’s like a smartwatch-shaped SOS necklace. It reminds wearers to take medication and notifies family if a fall or an irregular heartbeat is detected.
Thanks to a 4G connection, text messages and two-way conversations can be processed to keep seniors in touch with others, and there is an SOS button on the side.
It is available in dark gray or black and will be available in autumn for € 229.
