The best gaming phone out there is also the cheapest and probably you have never heard of it «Smartphones :: Gadget Hacks

In our comparison of the best gaming phones in 2019, the winner actually surprised us. A phone that most people do not know about a brand that you probably have not heard of became a clear winner. But how? Well, despite its median price, it ticked so many figureheads.

The Nubia Red Magic 3 is a phone that is probably not on your radar. You've probably never heard of the Nubia brand, a sub-brand that ZTE uses for its more adventurous smartphones. You may not even have heard of ZTE, but that's okay too.

ZTE recently had problems with the US government, which had previously banned the Chinese company. The ban was lifted and ZTE took this opportunity to bring its sub-brand Nubia to the United States. But you would not know if you did not look for it because the phone is not available on sites like Amazon or Newegg. Instead, you have to buy it from their website, and they spend little on marketing to raise awareness.

But do not make a mistake, this is a phone that you should keep an eye on. All its features make it ideal for games, and that's before you even consider the mid-range price. In the following, I will discuss the five main features that have helped outperform the comparison.

# 1
. Legendary Performance

The Red Magic 3 has everything you expect from a mobile phone marketed as a gaming phone. Starting with the SoC, it has the second-best processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 855. In his view, the Snapdragon 855+ was not available at the time of the phone's release, so it was not included.

] While other phones use this SoC, they are not all the same. Better cooling allows the CPU to keep its maximum clock rate longer. Most handheld phones use a steam chamber, a tiny, flat copper tube that cools the SoC passively. However, the Red Magic 3 uses active cooling. Similar to gaming PCs, a fan is used to dissipate the heat around the SoC. According to ZTE, this results in a 900% increase in CPU maximum clock time, a 16 ° C decrease in CPU temperature, and 500% better heat transfer.

The flagship SoC is paired with 8 or 12 GB of RAM. You will not find any US phones with more RAM, and this is more than enough to run any game you can throw at it – be it a mobile game, streaming a PC game, or emulating an older console. All of this memory also gives you scope for other activities like streaming on twitch or blender.

# 2. A Killer Display

Performance is important, but it's only half the battle when it comes to gaming. Because graphics are so important to gaming, we need a first-class display to follow the action. ZTE Nubia knew this and gave the players the screen they wanted.

First of all, it is a 6.65-inch display. There are only a handful of cell phones that even come close to this size. With such a large screen, you can conveniently view the gameplay, hubs, and menus of your current game. The 1080p display offers the best balance between resolution and battery life. Most games do not output more than 1080p anyway. This is also an AMOLED panel, so there is no loss of image quality.

But what really makes this display a gaming display is the fact that it has a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a touch response rate of 240 Hz. The first means that the screen can output as many images as the GPU can render, up to 90 frames per second. More frames provide smoother animations. It's hard to describe, but if you use this phone with a supported game, you'll immediately notice the difference.

The 240 Hz touch response rate is equally important. The touch response indicates how quickly the screen registers touches. When the refresh rate is faster than the refresh rate, the response time is almost instantaneous, making elements on the screen feel like real elements. In addition, this is an HDR panel, so it supports HDR games.

# 3. Premium Audio

The Red Magic 3 is one of the few phones on the market to offer front-facing stereo speakers. When looking for a display without a bezel, most OEMs have moved one speaker down and use either the earpiece or a small speaker in the top bezel as the other speaker. This works, but it's nothing compared to speakers that are aimed at your ears.

The Red Magic 3 also supports DTS: X Ultra for 7.1 surround sound when only these speakers are used. It's artificial (you would actually need eight speakers to do this), but it offers a more immersive experience than the standard sound profile of the speakers. Oh, and I forgot to mention … It has a headphone jack .

# 4. Real Gaming Features

Although this phone has many more features, I'd just like to focus on two. The first one is Game Space. At the top left of the phone is a red button. Enable it to enable Game Space 2.0, which is much more than your default game mode. That's because you can do so much more compared to the game modes of other phones.

Here you have access to game features and game performance information. You'll see the GPU temperature, the actual download speeds and both the GPU and CPU frequencies (in GPU this is the clock rate of the highest gold core) Probably never heard of ” width=”532″ height=”532″ style=”max-width:532px;height:auto;”/>

Below are a number of game-related feature buttons. With a button you can block all messages and calls during the game. You can choose to set the game to 60 fps (for better graphics performance) or 90 fps (for smoother animations). You can change the brightness level even if you set it to Automatic. You can customize the hardware controllers and the on-screen buttons. For some games, including Asphalt 9, you can even turn on 4D Shock, which creates additional unrest while playing.

# 5. A price that's almost too pretty to handle to be true

I've covered some of the game features of this phone (and would like to point out ), and my question to you is, "How much do you think it costs?" Remember, it has one Snapdragon 855, up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of memory, and a 90Hz AMOLED display that spans 6.65 inches.

Personally, I would have guessed at least $ 800. But what if I tell you it's under $ 500? Right, this phone costs only $ 479 .

The Red Magic 3 costs from $ 479. That's more of a median price than a flagship. But let's put that amount in context. In the last two years there were only two other phones with a refresh rate of more than 60 Hz. These are the Razer Phone 2 and OnePlus 7 Pro. The Razer Phone 2 originally had a price of $ 799.99 and has since fallen to $ 399. However, it will use an LCD panel and last year's Snapdragon 845.

The OnePlus 7 Pro costs from 669 US dollars. When the 7T Pro comes out, its price drops, but does not nearly reach the price of Red Magic 3. No phone has a fan or a game mode that is as extensive as the Red Magic 3. Other options like the iPhone X S Max and the Samsung Galaxy S10 + have better benchmark numbers, but they are twice as high (and even more than twice that) in price.

While the Red Magic 3 is not without flaws, this is a great option for someone who likes to play. This phone could have cost $ 700 and would still be a compelling proposition for cell phone gamers – but for $ 479 it's hard to pass.
