The Best Smart Locks For Your Amazon Echo – Review Geek

A smart lock on your front door is a great way to make your life easier. If you want to control your echo with your voice, there are a number of great options that work well with Alexa.

Keep in mind that there are several intelligent locks to choose from that are equipped with different functions, so that for you "best" may be different for you than the "best" for others. Having said that, we will go through some locks with different functions.

Kwikset Kevo ($ 229)

Whether you want a smart lock that works with Alexa, one of the best on the market is the Kwikset Kevo. It uses touch-to-open technology and has a discreet style that does not stick out like a thumb.

The Touch-to-Open feature is our favorite on Kevo as you simply tap on the lock body and it will either be locked or unlocked. It will detect if your phone is nearby and use it as an authorization. It even detects if you are outside or inside your home, so no one tries to unlock your door from home.

This is one of the more expensive smart locks on the market, even if you usually find it for sale at a nice discount. However, to use it with your Amazon Echo, you need Kevo Plus, a one-time purchase of $ 99, which comes with a gateway hub to connect to your network. Otherwise, it simply works via Bluetooth with your phone.

Keep your existing latch: August Smart Lock ($ 149)

If you do not want to replace the existing latch (either because you like the look or just do not want to change the keys), August is the best step in Smart Lock.

You just have to replace the inner mechanism with the August lock, and the outer part remains the same, making it look like a normal lock from the outside. However, with a full-fledged intelligent lock, you are quite far.

Just like the Kevo, you need a separate hub in the form of the August Connect Wi-Fi Bridge to use it with your Amazon Echo. Overall, this still makes the August lock cheaper than the Kevo, making it a great option if you have a limited budget.

If you have a Smarthome hub: hit Connect ($ 199)

If you already have an intelligent hub, you can choose from many smart Z-Wave locks, but Connect is our favorite.

With the existing Smarthome hub, Connect can work with almost any one of them that supports Z-Wave. Therefore, there is a lot of flexibility, especially since the other Smart Locks need their own proprietary hub. And as long as your smarthome hub works with Alexa, Connect will also be used.

Connect also has a keyboard that provides access without the need for your phone or physical key. We believe that a keypad is a very nice feature regardless of the status of the Smart Lock, and it is especially useful if you have children (who tend to lose their keys and may not yet own their own smartphones).
